
Flashes Continue Hot Start With 11-5 Win Over Xavier

Kent, OHIO - The Golden Flashes continued their hot start to the 2026 season with an 11-5 home victory over the Xavier Musketeers of the Big East to improve their record to 4-1.
The Musketeers got on the board first, but the Golden Flashes settled in after scoring four unanswered goals throughout the rest of the first quarter to take a 4-1 lead after one. Zayda Crumpton scored the first goal of the evening for the blue and gold as she scored the first goal for the Flashes in each of the four quarters of the game.
Junior Morgan Halli scored two goals for the home team in the first half to help KSU to a 7-3 lead at the half, where they would never look back. That was followed up by even scoring with two goals in the third and fourth quarters to put away Xavier by a comfortable six-goal margin.
Crumpton paced the Golden Flashes on the offensive end as she was involved in over half of the goals with six points coming off of four goals and two assists. Halli and sophomore Katlyn Binnix also contributed two goals and an assist each.
Leading the way on the defensive end as she has all season, was sophomore Anna Zucconi who caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Crumpton and senior Riley Floyd also picked up four ground balls each, while senior Meghan Haddow also had three ground balls.Â
Junior goalkeeper Sydney Davis had another outstanding game in net for the Flashes as she finished with 12 saves, and allowed just five goals. She currently leads the Mid-American Conference through five games in every goalie statistic.

The Flashes will enjoy a 10-day break before they return home for the fourth time in five games to take on another power-four opponent in Cincinnati on Friday, March 6th. The game is set to begin at 4 P.M. at Dix Stadium.
