
Golden Flashes Go for Gold at MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

Kent State will compete at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships inside of Central Michigan University's Jack Skoog Indoor Track on Friday and Saturday. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. both days.
All events will be streamed on for free on Chippewa All-Access.
PREVIEWING THE MEN
The Golden Flashes seek their second indoor conference title in the past three seasons and are ranked 76th in the USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index, which is the highest in the MAC.
Ayden Bath highlights three Kent State student-athletes who are the top-ranked entrant in their events and will go for his second career heptathlon gold. Bath ranks 15th nationally in the multis event with a personal-best score of 5,734. He also is the top-ranked entrant in the high jump and ranks second in the 60-meter hurdles.
Sean Callahan Jr. goes for his second career gold int the 60-meter dash after taking silver a year ago. Callahan Jr. is the top seed in the event after clocking a PR of 6.66 seconds previously this season.
Baidy Ba eyes gold and a potential school record in the 3,000-meter run. Ba's MAC-leading time of 8:05.5 is less than three seconds off the standard set by Aiman Scullion in 2010.
Jack Dillen (heptathlon), Amare Hall (long jump), Dylan McBride (800m) and Charles Pawlosky (shot put) are each ranked second in their respective events.
Donovan Crawford is ranked third in the weight throw, an event he won a year ago.
Micah Coates (400m) and Jacob Stanley (60m) are ranked third in their events and should challenge for medals at their first conference meet.
PREVIEWING THE WOMEN
The Flashes should be in contention for their first indoor MAC title since 2014 and are ranked 120th in the USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index, which is the second highest in the MAC.
Shelby Grover and Alexa Nestor are positioned to score big in both the pentathlon and open events. Grover is ranked first in the pentathlon and long jump, while Nestor is seeded second in the pentathlon, third in the 60-meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump.
Amryne Chilton is expected to contend for gold in both short sprints. Chilton owns the fastest time in the 200-meter dash and ranks second in the 60-meter dash.
Gabrielle Hammonds ran the fastest 60-meter hurdles time (8.35) by a MAC competitor since 2019 las Friday and is the favorite in the event.
Matilde Carboncini (pentathlon), Keeli Dunaway (triple jump) and Kyla Taress (pole vault) enter ranked in the top three in their respective events and should be in medal contention.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
Kent State athletes that rank in the top 16 nationally in their respective events will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas from March 13-14.
