
Golden Flashes Post Strong Marks on Opening Day of Doug Raymond Invitational

KENT, Ohio – Three Kent State student-athletes posted individual event victories on Friday during the opening day of action at the Doug Raymond Invitational.
Luigi Case and Amare Hall took the top two spots in the men's long jump. Case soared 24'-2.25" on his best attempt to edge Hall, who recorded a top jump of 24'-1.75".
Running the women's 200-meter dash for the first time this season, Amryne Chilton clocked an impressive time of 23.89 seconds that is more than a half-second faster than any other Mid-American Conference sprinter did during the first month of the indoor campaign. Laila Eiland placed fourth with a season-best time of 24.91 seconds.
Kyla Taress opened the women's pole vault competition with a pair of successful attempts and cleared the bar on her third try at 12'-5.50" to win the event. Ali Krischer placed third with a height of 10'-6".
Desmond Boyd and Donovan Crawford placed second and third, respectively, in the men's weight throw. Boyd had a personal-best throw of 64'-1" and Crawford's best attempt went 63'-2".
Grace Adegoke matched her season-best by clearing 5'-6" for second in the women's high jump.
In the men's 200m dash, Ryan Gruss finished second with a time of 21.45 seconds and Chaz Sakala was close behind in 21.58 seconds for fourth.
Ayden Bath (3,363), Joel Enander (2,966), Linkon Tyrrell (2,778) and Jack Dillen (2,771) are each in the top five through the first four events of the men's heptathlon.
Action inside of the Kent State Field House resumes on Saturday at 11 a.m.
