ST. CHARLES, MO - The Kent State Lacrosse team opened up their season with a big comeback victory on the road. The Flashes defeated Lindenwood by a score of 12-11 on an overtime game-winning goal from senior Lizzie Lundeen, who finished the game with five goals.
The Golden Flashes opened up the game with one goal in each of the first two quarters offensively, trailing the Lions by a score of 6-2 into the halftime break. That was when the team's production on both ends of the field stepped up, outscoring Lindenwood 10-5 to finish out the contest.
KSU scored six of the last eight goals in the fourth quarter after entering the frame down 9-6. Zayda Crumpton scored the final two goals in regulation for the Flashes before the Lions would tie it back up with under three minutes to go.
A score with two minutes remaining in overtime by Lundeen on an assist from Eva Anderson secured the second straight season-opening victory for the Blue and Gold.
Lundeen's five goals was good enough for a game-high best between both teams, while Crumpton also contributed five points off of three goals and two assists.
