Golden Flashes Drop Series Opener at Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Kent State Softball (11-12, 3-1 MAC) dropped a 14-1 decision via run rule on Friday afternoon against the University at Buffalo. The Golden Flashes scratched across a run in the opening frame prior to an offensive eruption from their opponent notching the loss.
The Flashes grabbed an early lead in the top of the first inning when Aaralyn Nogay drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. Brynn Libler followed with an RBI triple to left field to score Nogay and give Kent State a 1-0 advantage.
Buffalo answered immediately in the bottom of the first inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Bulls extended their advantage to 11-1 with seven runs in the second inning before adding one run in the fourth to secure the run-rule victory.
Libler went 1-for-2 with her triple and RBI. Nogay went 1-for-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base, while Claerhout and Porter each finished 1-for-2.
On Deck for the Flashes
The Flashes will continue their series at Buffalo on Saturday, March 21 with a doubleheader. First pitch times are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
