
Two More Women’s Track and Field Records Fall on Saturday in Louisville

Record-setting performances in the women's 100-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay highlighted a big day on the track as Kent State completed weekend competition at the University of Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational and the Ashland Alumni Open.

Ainhoa Reparaz Sanchez claimed the first record of the day, clocking a time of 11.52 seconds to finish second in the women's 100m and break the Golden Flashes record that had stood for 26 years. Laila Eiland placed seventh in the event with a personal-best time of 11.64 seconds that is tied for the third fastest mark in program history.
Later in the afternoon, Grace Alls, Amryne Chilton, Casey Musgrave and Marinna Atanmo shattered the program's 4x400m relay record with a time of 3:34.75 that is more than three seconds faster than the previous standard.
The men also had a big day in the 100m with a pair of top-10 all-time program times. Jacob Stanley finished second with a time of 10.32 seconds that is fifth fastest ever by a Flash. Sean Callahan Jr. was close behind in 10.35 seconds for third place and the No. 9 spot on the all-time performance lists.
Kyla Taress led Kent State in field events with a season-best mark of 12'-6.25" for eighth in the women's pole vault.
ASHLAND ALUMNI OPEN
Donovan Crawford led the Flashes with a season-best throw of 171'-8" in the men's discus elite. Desmond Boyd placed fifth with a mark of 167'-6". In the men's shot put elite, Charles Pawlosky finished seventh with a throw of 52'-3.25"
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Flashes will be back in action to the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2.
