Kent, OHIO - The Kent State Lacrosse team will return to Dix Stadium on Saturday as they take on the Robert Morris Colonials in another Mid-American Conference matchup on Senior Day at 1 P.M.Â
The Golden Flashes will celebrate the hard work the senior class of Peyton Gellin, Emily Bond, Meghan Haddow, Camryn Meek, Lizzie Lundeen, Riley Floyd and Zayda Crumpton have put into the program over the last four years.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes finished strong offensively on the road as they scored four goals in the final eight minutes to put away the Youngstown State Penguins and get a Mid-American Conference win by a score of 8-4.
Both defenses started off strong in the first half as the score was 2-1 in favor of YSU heading into the halftime break. Junior Eva Anderson scored the first goal of the game for the Flashes in the first quarter.
Kent State's offense then picked it up in the third quarter as seniors Zayda Crumpton and Meghan Haddow scored within a minute of each other early in the third quarter to give the Flashes a lead that they would not give up for the remainder of the contest.
However, the Penguins did not go away as they scored two goals in the quarter to tie it up at four a piece heading into the final frame. That was when the Blue and Gold would end the game on four straight goals from Crumpton, senior Lizze Lundeen, and two from junior Morgan Halli.
Halli led the team in goals as she finished with a hat trick. Crumpton finished with two goals as Lundeen contributed offensively with a goal and two assists.Â
Leading the way defensively for KSU was Haddow with three caused turnovers. Junior Allie Bradley, and sophomores Anna Zucconi and Amber Shinsky each picked up three ground balls in the win as Sydney Davis finished with six saves in net.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials have started the 2026 season out with a 1-2 MAC record and 3-8 overall. They share two common opponents with KSU so far this season in Cincinnati and Youngstown State. RMU fell to the Penguins at home by just one goal two weeks ago.
Sophomore Mia Berthoff leads the team offensively with 29 points off of 20 goals and nine assists. Gabi Puzevic and Taylor Burkett each have nine goals so far this season while Lea Otts and Jade Doldo have both contributed eight goals this season. Otts has also produced eight assists this season.
RMU will come into the contest as the conference's best penalty-killing defense. A name to watch on the defensive end will be Madison Preitz who has 13 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls. Jenna Evans also has 13 caused turnovers this season to go along with 23 ground balls.
Series History
Saturday's matchup will mark the 11th all-time meeting between the Flashes and Colonials. Kent State has won just one of those meetings back in 2023, while Robert Morris got the narrow-win in last year's meeting by a score of 8-7.
Up Next
After honoring their senior class against the Colonials, the blue and gold will turn their attention back to non-conference action. On Tuesday, they will welcome first-year program Florida State to town for an 11 A.M. start.
