
Women’s Soccer Hosts Youngstown State on Friday

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's soccer team will play host to Youngstown State at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at Zoeller Field. A link to live stats will be available at kentstatesports.com.
About Kent State
The Golden Flashes, currently 4-3-0 on the year, are coming off a 2-1 loss to Cincinnati last Sunday afternoon. Cincinnati was ahead 2-0 early in the second period, but Kent State sophomore Madison Helterbran put one past the goalkeeper in the 67th minute to bring the Golden Flashes within one.
Helterbran leads Kent State in scoring with six points on two goals and two assists, while senior Jessacca Gironda trails with five points on two goals and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Senn leads the Kent State defense. Her 30 saves in Kent State's seven games currently ranks third in the Mid-American Conference.
Scouting the Penguins
Youngstown State enters Friday's matchup with a 1-6-1 overall record, and has suffered losses in its last three consecutive games. Most recently, the Penguins fell 3-2 at Northern Kentucky last Sunday afternoon, despite goals from Katie Hohmann and Cara Armstrong.
Youngstown State has scored five goals this season, each scored by a different player; Cara Armstrong, Brittany Dowd, Katie Hohmann, Rachel Hutton and Nicolette Merlo.
