Flashes Face First MAC Road Test at Ball State

GAME NOTES
THE GAME
Kent State (3-10, 0-2 MAC) faces its first Mid-American Conference road test as the team travels to Ball State (6-7, 1-1 MAC) on Sunday (Jan. 12) afternoon contest at 2:00pm.
In their last outing, the Golden Flashes suffered a 39-58 defeat at the hands of MAC East-leading Bowling Green. Neither team was able to get much going in the first half, as the score was a low 20-13 at the half, but Bowling Green was able to increase the lead in the second to come off with the win. The Golden Flashes had their best three-point shooting performance of the year, sinking six in 11 attempts, including three off the hands of Amber Dunlap and two from Larissa Lurken. Both were the team leaders in scoring with nine points apiece. Lurken also had a team-high six rebounds. Kent State had 13 assists on 16 field goals and also had help from 21 points from the bench.
The Golden Flashes started the month of December by winning two in a row for the first time since January of the 2011-12 season. With three wins already in their keeping, they have already matched last year's win total. Their most recent victory, a 69-46 domination of Niagara, was the team's largest win-margin since December 1, 2010.
In their three victories, Kent State is averaging 18.3 made free-throws, 44 rebounds and 16 turnovers with a +1.7 turnover margin. They also have had at least three players reach double digits in scoring in the three victories
Ball State sits at .500 in the conference after a 78-87 loss at Akron and, most recently, a 70-66 victory on the road at Eastern Michigan. Nathalie Fontaine leads the Cardinals in scoring by averaging 16.4 points a game. She also leads with 7.0 rebounds per game. Two other members of Ball State are also averaging double digits in scoring. Brandy Woody leads the team with 49 assists and 15 steals.
