
Golden Flashes Conclude Doug Raymond Invitational with Multiple Personal Records

RESULTS
KENT, Ohio –The Kent State Track and Field team kicked off the New Year with personal best performances at the Doug Raymond Invitational, after a month long break, at the Kent State Field House on Saturday.
The Golden Flashes took top honors in eight events on the day with personal records in nearly each one. Kent State defeated Duquesne 78-60 as a team.
"This was a very good performance overall coming out of the December break" coach Lawson said. "It was a very low energy meet with not a lot of teams but it was great to get back in action before next week's Akron Dual on Friday."
Joh'Vonnie Mosley set two lifetime indoor personal records in both the shot put, with a mark of 54'-2.00", and the weight throw, with a mark of 58'-6.00".
Lawson added "it was a very good opening mark for Joh'vonnie", as Mosley took first in each of the two events as Jackie Leppelmeier took second in the shot put for her own lifetime personal record of 51'-5.00".
Lakia Kent-Allen took first in the women's triple jump as she set her new lifetime personal record with a jump of 37'-1.25".
Becca Herte and Morgan Estes each set new lifetime personal records in the pole vault. With the mark of 12'-3.50" Herte beat her previous indoor PR of 12'-0.50" as Estes, the true freshman, took second with a mark of 11'-9.75". Herte took first in the pole vault as Estes tied for second with teammate Tori Meyer.
Four other Flashes took first place in events at the Doug Raymond, Roseanne Erickson who jumped a distance of 19'-3.25" in the long jump, JoAnne Pittman who took first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.81, Hannah Fleck who ran the 1,000 meter run, 2:57.94, and Erica Hutson who finished the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.63.
The Golden Flashes return to the Field House Friday, January 17 to host Akron for their first Mid-American Conference dual at 6:00 p.m. in Kent.
