Kent State Set to Face Northern Illinois on Wednesday Night

THE GAME
Kent State (3-15, 0-7 MAC) remains on the road this week as the team travels to Northern Illinois (7-10, 3-4 MAC) for a 7:00pm matchup Wednesday night (7:00pm CST).
The last time out, the Golden Flashes fell 62-72 on the road at Miami. The game had a slow start, with the teams shooting a combined 39% by the seond medie timeout. The RedHawks took a 33-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. Out of the break, Miami went on a 12-0 run to give themselves a 20-point lead, their biggest of the day. Kent State answered back with a run of their own, going 8-1 by turning on a tough full-court press and collecting three steals within a one minute time span on the game clock. However, Miami ultimately would remain at bay and come out with the victory. Rachel Mendelsohn led all in scoing with 19 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Depsite first half foul and shooting trouble, Amber Dnlap finished the game with 11 points and three assists and three steals. Ashley Evans contributed with 12 points including a perfect day at the line where she went 5-for-5. Montia Johnson and Janae Peterson tied with a team-high six rebounds.
The Golden Flashes started the month of December by winning two in a row for the first time since January of the 2011-12 season. With three wins already in their keeping, they have already matched last year's win total. Their most recent victory, a 69-46 domination of Niagara, was the team's largest win-margin since December 1, 2010.
Northern Illinois sits at 3-4 in the conference with wins against Ohio, Eastern Michigan and at Miami. They lost at Toledo, at Central Michigan, versus Buffalo and most recently, at Bowling Green. The Huskies are led by Amanda Corral, who is averaging 14.6 points per game. The team has a overall win margin of -1.0 and +2.6 in conference play. They have one of the highest three-point field goal percentages in the MAC, shooting 31%.

• Donation bins to collect books will be set out at the M.A.C. Center for our games on February 9, February 23 and March 2.
• Donations will also be accepted at the men's games on February 1.
