Final Regular Season Home Games This Weekend at Murphy-Mellis Field

Field hockey will host its last two games of the regular season this weekend when two Mid-American Conference opponents make the trip to Murphy-Mellis Field. Kent State (6-8, 3-0) will host Ball State (5-9, 1-3) for Senior Day on Saturday at noon. The weekend will conclude with a match against Longwood (6-10, 2-3) at 1:00p.m on Sunday.

The Matchups
Ball State
• Kent State is 29-33 all-time against Ball State
• The Golden Flashes won in Muncie last season, 5-2
• Kent State has won nine of the last ten matchups with the only loss coming in overtime on the road in 2011
• In conference, the Cardinals have beat Missouri State and suffered losses to Central Michigan, Longwood and Ohio
Longwood
• Kent State and Longwood have only met once before with the Lancers winning that meeting 3-1 in 1986
• Longwood joined the MAC this summer
• So far in their first conference season the Lancers have beat Missouri State and Ball State and have lost to Ohio, Central Michigan and Ball State
Senior Day
• Prior to Saturday's game, a short ceremony will take place to honor the team's six seniors
• Abbie Carrico, Hannah Faulkner, Julia Hofmann, Shannon Martin, Missy Ramsey and Sami Surdy will be recognized
MAC Tournament
• This will not be the last time there will be action at Murhpy-Mellis Field this season
• Kent State will host the MAC Tournament Nov. 7-8
• The top teams will begin to clinch tournament berths after this weekend's games

• Hannah Faulkner is 9th in the nation in points per game, 12th in goals per game and 35th in assists per game

Fall Food Fight Update
• All of Kent State's fall sports are holding the Fall Food Fight to collect non-perishable items to restock the shelves at the Center of Hope in Ravenna, Kent Social Services and the Kent State Food Pantry
• Donation bins will set out at the entry of both home games this weekend at Murphy-Mellis Field
