Big Weekend Ahead as Flashes Close Out Regular Season

Already clinching at least a share of the Mid-American Conference regular season title, Kent State (8-8, 5-0) will vie for the outright crown and a perfect conference season when the team faces Central Michigan (6-11, 4-1) on the road on Saturday. The Golden Flashes' regular season will end on Sunday at No. 8 Northwestern (12-5).

The Matchups
Central Michigan
• Kent State is 51-13 all-time against Central Michigan
• Last season, the Golden Flashes won 3-2 in overtime at home in the regular season before falling to the Chippewas 2-1 in the opening round of the MAC Tournament
• Prior to the MAC Tournament loss, Kent State had won the previous 15 meetings
• Central Michigan suffered its first conference loss last weekend at home 3-2 in overtime to Ohio
Northwestern
• Kent State is 4-6 all-time against Northwestern
• The teams last met in Kent in 2013 when the Golden Flashes fell 1-3
• The last Kent State victory over the Wildcats came in 2010 in a 2-1 overtime win at Evanston
Tournament Seeding
• Kent State, Central Michigan, Miami and Ohio have all clinched the four spots in next weekend MAC Tournament hosted by the Golden Flashes
• With a Kent State win, they will be the first MAC team to go undefeated in conference play since they did it in 2000
• With a loss, Central Michigan will take a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the tournament with Kent State taking the No. 2
• A Golden Flashes' victory over the Chippewas will give CMU, Miami and Ohio all 4-2 conference records. Through tiebreaker procedures, Central Michigan will be the No. 2 seed with Miami the No. 3 and Ohio the No. 4 seed
• The first two tournament games will be Friday, Nov, 7 at 11:30a.m. and 2:00p.m.
• The MAC Tournament Champion will be crowned and will receive a bid to the NCAA's on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2:00p.m.
Seniors Soaring
• Hannah Faulkner racked up Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week and MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this past week after a five-goal weekend
• She also was just announced as a chosen participant for the NFHCA Senior Game
• Faulkner currently ranks 5th in the nation in goals per game and 6th in points per game and is on a eight-game scoring streak
• Fellow senior Julia Hofmann was chosen as a reserve for the NFHCA Senior Game
• She currently ranks 10th all-time at Kent State in goals and points
