Oxley Sets School Pole Vault Record as Track and Field Finishes Ohio Open Friday

ATHENS, Ohio – Kent State's Track and Field teams finished the Ohio Open Fri., May 3 with 15 combined – 12 men's and 3 women's – first place finishes, behind Jesse Oxley's school record in the pole vault.
Results
On the men's side, Jesse Oxley took first in the pole vault with a personal-best and school record of 5.28m (17' 3.75"). Oxley broke the record that was set in 1998 by Jamie Clymer at a height of 17' 3".
Michael King won the shot put with a mark of 18.08m (59' 4") while Samuel Groves took second with a mark of 14.48m (47' 6.25") and Jeremy Jancso won the high jump, 1.83m (6' 0").
Reggie Jagers won the discus with a distance of 56.34m (184' 10") with Xavier Braxton bringing home the title in the long jump with a personal-best of 7.04m (23' 1.25"). Dylan Shirley took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.98m (22' 10.75").
Donovan Tolbert took home first in triple jump, 14.65m (48' 0.75"), for a personal-best as Grant Onken and Samuel Allen took first and second, respectively in the 1,500-meter run. Onken came across in 3:58.35 as Allen came in at 4:00.42.
William Barnes took first in both the 110-meter hurdles, 14.26, and the 200-meter dash, 21.67. Miles Dunlap took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.39 as the men swept the top-3 with Laron Brown in second, 48.99, and Marteze Roper in third, 50.55. Dunlap also took second in the 200-meter dash in 21.81 seconds.
Riak Reese and Nate Sclaes took one-two, respectively in the 100-meter dash as Reese finished first in 10.68, a personal-best, and Sclaes in 10.87.
Danny Young won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 54.60, a new personal-best. The men's 4x100m Relay team – Laron Brown, Riak Reese, Nate Scales and Cody Seifert – took first with a time of 41.62.
On the women's side, C.J. Carlisle won the javelin throw with a distance of 45.86m (150' 5") as Morgan Estes, Tori Meyer and Becca Herte took first and tied for second in the pole vault. Estes came in first with a height of 3.80m (12' 5.5") as Meyer and Herte tied for second with a mark of 3.50m (11' 5.75").
Erica Hutson, Lynnese Beyan and Jorian Ordway took first, second and third in the 400-meter dash, respectively, with times of 55.76, 56.40, and 56.96 all setting new personal-bests.
Katie Reiser took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.41 as Tabitha Jacofsky took second in the 800-meter run in 2:14.18 for a personal-best.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team – Kaila Gardner, Lynnese Beyan, Katie Reiser, and Olivia Hallstein – took second with a time of 48.44.
The Golden Flashes return to action next week when they travel to Akron for the Campbell-Wright Open on Fri., May 9 and Sat., May 10.
