Kent State Drops Match Against Richmond in Overtime

KENT, Ohio β Kent State (2-3) dominated the first half but lost momentum in the second as Richmond (3-2) was able to make a comeback and take a 4-3 victory in overtime.
Julia Hofmann started the scoring off on a penalty stroke in the first and Ines Delpech scored on a corner opportunity to make it a 2-0 Kent State advantage at halftime.Β Hannah Faulkner and Madison Thompson had assists on the Delpech goal.Β The Golden Flashes had 12 shots to the Spiders' seven and five corners to the Spiders' one in the opening 35 minutes.
The second half was a different story, as Richmond scored first.Β Kent State took a two-goal advantage right back as Delpech scored again on an assist by Alayna Harris.Β The Spiders made it a 3-2 game shortly after.Β With less than a minute left in the game, Richmond was awarded a penalty corner and slipped a shot past Golden Flashes' goalkeeper Andrea Rinehart to send the game into overtime.
Richmond was quick to end things, as they scored on a rebound off a shot to win the game 4-3.
The Spiders came back to have 19 shots in the game compared to Kent State's 15.Β Both teams finished with six corners.Β Rinehart had four saves.
Kent State returns to action Saturday at noon when they host No. 19 Michigan State at Murphy-Mellis Field.
