NCAA Regional Play Begins Thursday for Women's Golf

Women's golf will begin play at NCAA Regionals in South Bend, Ind., this Thursday with the three-day, three-round event ending on Sunday. The top six teams and three individuals from each of the four regionals sites will advance to the NCAA Championships held May 22-27.

Tee Times
• Kent State will begin the first round on Thursday from the 10th tee from 8am-8:36am. The Golden Flashes will be paired with Louisville and San Jose State
• The second round will begin on Saturday at 8 a.m.
• The third and final round will be held on Sunday with tee times from 8am-10:15am
Chasing Records
• The team currently has the best season scoring average in program history at 296.73 entering regional play.
• The lowest scoring average in a complete season was set last year with a 298.56
• Jennifer Ha is second all-time in career wins and is also in second place in career scoring average. She ranks 5th all-time in scoring average vs par and 2nd in round of par or better.
•Wad Phaewchimplee currently is tied for 5th in career wins and leads all Golden Flashes in career scoring average and scoring average vs par. She is 8th in career rounds of par or better. This year's scoring average currently stands as the best single season all-time at Kent State.
•Josée Doyon also is in the record books for career statistics. She is tied for 5th in wins, is 9th in scoring average and 10th in scoring average vs par.
A Close Call
• Last season, Kent State barely missed its 5th NCAA Championship appearance.
• The Golden Flashes shot 39-over to finish in 10th place. They were a stroke shy of entering the tiebreaker for the 8th and final spot for a trip to the NCAA Championship
• Wad Phaewchimplee won last year's Regional as a freshman, becoming just the second Golden Flash in history to do so. She advanced to the NCAA Championship as an individual were she finished in 28th place at 8-over par. He 288 total at the Championship was the second-best 72-hole score in Kent State women's golf history
