Field Hockey to Host Cancer Awareness Game Sunday After Visiting Buckeyes

The Golden Flashes (6-4, 2-0 MAC) travel to Ohio State (3-7) Friday before hosting a cancer awareness game on Sunday at noon in a conference matchup with Central Michigan (1-8, 0-1 MAC).

Ohio State
• Kent State is 7-22 all-time against Ohio State
• Last season the Flashes beat the Buckeyes 3-1 at home
• Prior to that, Ohio State had won the previous seven meetings
• Kent State has not beat Ohio State in back-to-back meetings since the 1997 and 1998 seasons when they won 2-1 on the road and 5-2 at home
Central Michigan
• Kent State is 52-14 all-time against Central Michigan
• Last season the Golden Flashes won 1-0 on the road
• Before the 2015 game, the Chippewas had won the prior to meetings in 2014 and 2013
• Kent State won 15 straight meetings from 2009 to the 2013 regular season meeting
Cancer Research Fundraiser
• The program is raising money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research this season

• The teams will don special warm up shirts and both teams will wear blue ribbons during Sunday's game
• The Golden Flashes have special stickers on their sticks with the initials H.H. in honor of Alison Harmatz's father, Howard, who passed away from cancer this summer
Figa Malgosa Earns MAC Weekly Honor
• Silvia Figa Malgosa was named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for her performance on the field and in the classroom
• Figa Malgosa had four points this past weekend and anchored a dominant defensive performance that helped the Flashes start conference play at 2-0
• The junior has an impressive 3.98 cumulative grade point average while majoring in nutrition
Dominant D
• Kent State has been very impressive defensively in the first two conference games of the season
• The Golden Flashes have held their two opponents to just three goals, 15 shots and six corners in last weekend's contests
• Meanwhile, Kent State scored six times with 33 shots and 18 corners
• Ball State was held without a shot for a span of 53 minutes on Friday
• Longwood was held to just two shots in the second half and overtime period on Sunday
