KENT, Ohio- The No. 13 Kent State University women's golf team is set to compete in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship Sept. 17-18 at the Cherokee Country Club (par 71, 5,897 / 5,840 yards) in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The tournament begins with the first two rounds on Monday at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun start. The final round will take place on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Kent State has been a staple in the Tennessee hosted tournament and adds to a talented 22-team  field. The Flashes will take on No. 42 BYU, No. 40 NC State, No. 34 Ole Miss, No. 23 Illinois, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, South Dakota State, Central Florida, UT- San Antonio, UNC-Charlott, and UT- Chattanooga.
Roughly half of the field ranks in the latest Golfweek top-50 rankings, but the Golden Flashes are the highest ranked team in the field. The Flashes are coming off a season-opener tournament victory at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. Marissa Kirkwood led the Flashes' lineup with a tied for sixth finish, followed by Michaela Finn who also finished in the top-10.
Kent State looks to maintain its momentum at a tournament they have had success at. The Flashes hold the second all-time team low score of 841 set at last year's tournament. Last season, Kent State finished second with an 11-under par score, one stroke shy of the tournament winner, Illinois.
The Flashes lineup will be Marissa Kirkwood, Michaela Finn, Chloe Salort, Pimnipa Panthong, and Karoline Stormo. Competing as an individual will be Kory Nielsen.
Live results will be available via GolfStat for all three rounds. Follow @KentStWGolf on Twitter for updates throughout the tournament.
