
Flashes Resume MAC Play on the Road Before Facing Northwestern

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University field hockey team (8-5, 3-0 MAC) resumes conference play as the Flashes travel to Central Michigan on Friday for a 4 p.m. game before facing Northwestern on Sunday at noon.
The Flashes enter Friday's game on a four-game win streak and sole possession of first place in the MAC. Kent State defeated conference rival Miami last Friday, 3-2 to keep the Flashes perfect in MAC play. Despite being outshot by the RedHawks, Kent State was able to score on three of their seven shots on goal.
Flashes Picked Second in MAC Preseason Poll
The Flashes were tabbed to finish second in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll and received one first-place vote and one vote to win the MAC Tournament Championship. Last season, Kent State finished 8-12 overall and 5-1 in MAC play before falling to Miami in the MAC Tournament Championship match.

Alice O'Hagen leads the Chippewas with six goals, two assists, and 14 points. Taryn Damm has dished out four assists, while goalkeeper Abigail Ebersole leads the MAC and team with 33 saves.
Kent State holds a 55-15 all-time series advantage over Central Michigan. The Flashes have won four of the last five games and came away with a 5-1 victory at home last season.
Scouting Northwestern
The Wildcats stand 11-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Northwestern split decisions last weekend falling to Penn State in double overtime, 3-2, and defeating Rutgers 4-1. Bente Baekers netted two goals against Rutgers, bringing her total to 19 on the season and securing her fifth Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award. Kirsten Mansfield paces the Wildcats with 12 assists, while goalkeeper Florien Marcussen has recorded 70 saves.
Northwestern holds a 10-4 all-time series advantage over the Flashes. The two teams met last season in Kent and Northwestern defeated the Flashes, 4-2.
