
Flashes Finish Fourth at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La.- Kent State moved up the leaderboard on the final day of the Louisiana Classics for a fourth-place finish among 15 teams. In their third round, the Golden Flashes shot 1-under par for a tournament total of 881 (17-over).
Senior Gisli Sveinbergsson led the Flashes and had the top performance of the day with a 4-under 68 score. Sveinbergsson went a remarkable 17 holes for par or better and completed the final round with five birdies and a lone bogey. The senior finished tied for 15th for the tournament at 4-over 220.
Not far behind was senior Bjarki Petursson who finished tied for 18th at 5-over 221. Petursson carded a 1-over score in the final 18 holes and birdied three times. Sophomore Will Kurtz finished the final round with a 4-over score and finished tied for 31st at 8-over for the tournament.
Freshman Johnny Travale tied for 38th after a final round of even-par 72. Travale went 15 holes for par or better and had three birdies for the day and finished the tournament at 8-over 224.
Rounding out the Flashes' lineup and finishing tied for 45th with a 9-over score was Chris Doody. Doody carded a 2-over final round score.
Kent State was top-3 on par fours for the tournament with a 4.15 average.
McNeese State earned the team crown at 1-under.
Kent State returns to action March 11-12 at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach.
