Flashes Drop Final Game of Road Trip

LORETTO, Pa. – The Kent State lacrosse team (0-8) suffered a 13-9 loss to Saint Francis (Pa.) (3-5) this afternoon in its final game of a three-game road trip.
The Golden Flashes led at halftime behind Megan Kozar and Abby Jones' two first-half goals, but the Red Flash dominated the second half to pull out the victory.
Grace Merrill notched a career-high 20 saves in the contest, including 13 in the second half. Merrill is one of the top goalies in the country in saves per game, averaging 12.0 prior to her career-best performance.
Jones finished with four goals and one assist, while Kozar recorded three goals. Katie Stachler recorded the first assist of her career, while Alyssa Monroe paced the Flashes with three caused turnovers.
Saint Francis (Pa.) had four players with at least two goals in the game, led by Emileigh Scott (3g, 4a) and Livia Baker (3g, 3a). The Red Flash won the draw control battle 16-6 and fired 33 shots on goal compared to the Golden Flashes' 13 shots on goal.

Kent State will return home to Dix Stadium on Friday, March 22 to take on Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m. The Flashes will then travel to Coastal Carolina for its first ASUN conference matchup. The Flashes' lacrosse team is the only team at Kent State not in the Mid-American Conference.
