
Lacrosse Opens ASUN Competition at Coastal Carolina

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team (0-9) travels to Coastal Carolina (5-2) for its first ASUN Conference matchup in program history on Tuesday, March 26 at 4 p.m.
The Golden Flashes are still in search for their first program win and look to do so on the road against the Chanticleers.
Grace Merrill leads the Flashes in goal, recording a career-high 20 saves against Saint Francis (Pa.) on March 20. The team captain ranks fourth in the country, averaging 13.0 saves per game. Her 104 saves on the season ranks seventh among Division-I goalies.
The Flashes are led on offense by Megan Kozar (21g, 6a) and Abby Jones (15g, 9a). The duo combines for more than 50 percent of the Kent State offense. Kozar recorded a program-record seven goals against Detroit Mercy on March 16, while Jones tallied the first goal in Kent State history against Cincinnati on Feb. 10.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina was tabbed to finish second in the ASUN preseason poll, receiving three first-place votes and 43 total points. The Chanticleers finished second in the ASUN regular season standings a year ago and fell to Jacksonville 25-19 in the ASUN Championship.
The Chanticleers' offense is led by the trio of Haley Alexander (21g, 8a), Samantha Courtmanche (16g, 8a) and Madeline Bromley (11g, 11a). In goal for Coastal Carolina, Harley Barrett has recorded 65 saves this season. She averages 11.30 saves per game and posts a 47.4 save percentage.

The Flashes will be back home to host Delaware State and Howard for two games in three days, March 29 and 31. After the home stand, Kent State will head to Florida for a two-game road trip against Stetson and Jacksonville.
