
Flashes Fall to Owls Despite Halftime Lead

KENT, Ohio โ The Kent State lacrosse team (1-13) dropped its first home ASUN conference to Kennesaw State (6-7) game despite holding the lead at halftime.
The Flashes flew out to a 5-1 lead behind three early goals from Lluna Katz. A 5-0 Owls' run gave Kennesaw State the lead. The Flashes went on to lead 9-8 at the break.
Katz finished the game with a career-high five goals. Megan Kozar scored three goals for the Flashes. Abby Jones finished with a goal and three assists. Eva Nikolai added a goal, while Anna Woodhams tallied the first goal in her Kent State career.
Nikolai and Madison Rapier recorded career-highs with six draw controls each. Katz, Rapier, Maddy Mead and Alyssa Monroe each caused two turnovers for the Flashes. Mead led the team with four ground balls. ย
The second half was dominated by the Owls, outscoring the Flashes 10-2 to run away with the 18-11 victory.
Sienna Gore (5g, 1a) and Anna Giulitto (5g, 1a) led the Owls' offense. Gore led the Owls with 10 draw controls and currently ranks in the top-10 in the NCAA in goals scored. Her twin sister, Marissa Gore, added five draw controls and three goals for Kennesaw State.
The Owls won the draw control battle, 17-14. They also outshot the Flashes 37-27, including 18-10 in the second half.

Kent State takes on Howard at Dix Stadium on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. The Flashes will finish their season on the road at Central Michigan on April 20 before returning home to take on Liberty on April 24.
