KENT, Ohio – Preparations for an upcoming three-game, eight-day trip to Canada began on Wednesday afternoon, as the Kent State women's basketball team held practice inside of the M.A.C. Center.
Fourth-year head coach Todd Starkey will have eight practices to work with the squad prior to departing for Vancouver on Friday, Aug. 9. The Golden Flashes will then return to campus on Friday, Aug. 16.
"We are very appreciative of our administration for allowing us to put this together and provide this type of experience for our student-athletes and staff," said Starkey. "This trip gives us the opportunity with a young team to have extra time to practice and also get some on-court experience. We're excited about some of the things we saw on the first day back, and our mindset is to make progress as we're going through."
Following the travel day, the Flashes will play three games on successive days. The final few days of the trip will allow the student-athletes to strengthen their bonds away from the court.
Kent State returns four starters and 83.6-percent of its scoring from last year's 20-win team. All 14 members of the team will be eligible to compete during the trip.
