
Flashes Travel to Saint Louis for First Full Road Swing

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University field hockey team will travel this weekend for their first full road swing of the season. The Flashes (3-2) will face Fairfield on Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. EST. before their matchup with Saint Louis on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. EST.
The Flashes are coming off a winning weekend where they saw wins against Temple and No. 24 ranked Maine. On Friday, Kent State shutout the owls, 3-0, with junior Clara Rodriguez Seto leading the Flashes with her two-goal performance. Senior Laila Richter also had a multi-shot game and fired four shots and connected on one for a goal. Kent State edged the Owls in shots 17-12 and had 10 penalty corners to Temple's seven.
On Sunday, Kent State hosted the ranked Maine Black Bears in the weekend finale. The Black Bears controlled much of the game and outshot the Flashes 16-10 and 13-4 with shots on goal, however, junior goalkeeper Azure Fernsler was a wall with a career-best 10 saves on the day. Sophomore Luisa Knapp put Kent State on the board first followed by Rodriguez Seto with the insurance goal.
Clara Rodriguez Seto has been lighting it up as of late as she scored four goals over the last three games. Rodriguez Seto's week was highlighted by her two goals and an assist against Temple on Friday. She also added solo goals against Louisville and Maine. She leads the team with four goals and has fired nine shots on the season as she's on pace to smash her career-best 6-goal season in 2018.
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
Fairfield stands 3-1 overall after going 2-0 last weekend. The Stags defeated Vermont 2-1 on Friday and closed out the weekend with a 5-0 win over St. Francis. Junior Danielle Profita, who was awarded NEC Offensive Player of the Week, recorded two goals and two assists in Fairfield's winning weekend. Freshman Julianna Kratz came off the bench and picked up a goal and an assist in the win against St. Francis. She has played a key role off the bench during Fairfield's current three-game winning streak, tallying six points during the three-game run. Her point total consists of two goals and two assists.
This is the first meeting between the two programs.
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
Saint Louis stands 0-4 overall after dropping a pair of games last weekend. Saint Louis dropped a 3-0 decision to Central Michigan on Friday, followed by a 3-0 loss to Ball State on Sunday. Megan Rice leads the team with one goal, three shots, and two points.
The Flashes hold a 14-3 series advantage. Last season, the two teams met in Kent with the Flashes defeating the Billikens, 1-0.
