
Flashes Look For First Win Against Bonnies

KENT, Ohio โ The Kent State lacrosse team (0-2) travels to Olean, N.Y. on Friday, Feb. 21 to face off against St. Bonaventure (2-0) at 4 p.m. at Marra Athletics Complex.
Season So Far
The Golden Flashes are coming off back-to-back losses to start the program's second season against Ohio State and Robert Morris. The Flashes were outscored 40-18 in those contests.
Abby Jones leads the team with nine points (8g, 1a) this season. She also leads the team with seven draw controls. The Coon Rapids, Minn. native ranks seventh in the country in shots on goal per game (7.50) and is tied for 17th in the country with 4.00 goals per game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Merrill has made 27 saves this season. She ranks fourth in the country with 13.50 saves per game.
Maddy Mead leads the Flashes on defense, causing a team-high four turnovers this season and three ground balls. She has started both games and provides a spark for Kent State's back line.
Midfielders Madison Rapier and Meghan Cawood help the Flashes secure the draw. They each have controlled five draws this season. Rapier has also added three goals, while Cawood has posted one goal and one assist.
Freshmen have played a large role for the Kent State offense this season. Morgan Kubicki (3), Lexi Piekarski (2) and Kenzie Sklar (1) have combined for 60 percent of the team's assists. Sklar and fellow freshman Allison Kortowich have also added goals for the Flashes.
Scouting the Bonnies
Destinee Johnson leads St. Bonaventure with 11 goals in the first two games. She started the season off with five goals in a 16-8 win over Hartford and snagged a six pack of goals in a 10-9 victory over Central Connecticut State. The senior attacker ranks third in the country with 5.50 goals per game and is tied for 10th in the country with 6.50 points per game.
Ashley Easterday ranks second on the team with seven points (4g, 3a), while Nora Anderson is third on the team (3g, 3a).
The Bonnies knocked off the Flashes 18-10 last season. They wereย led byย Easterday, who scored four goals and added two assists. Johnson tallied 10 total points, including seven assists for St. Bonaventure in the win.
