
Flashes Travel to Bowling Green for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

The Kent State women's basketball team looks to complete in third season sweep of a Mid-American Conference East Division opponent in as many games when it heads to Bowling Green on Saturday, February 28. Tip from the Stroh Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (16-10, 9-6 MAC) prevented Akron from making a basket for the final 9:30 of Wednesday night's 68-50 victory at the M.A.C. Center. Kent State limited the Zips to their lowest scoring output of the season while shooting a season-worst 30.2 percent on 16-of-53 from the field, which included misses on their final 13 attempts. Asiah Dingle shot 6-of-8 and poured in 14 of her game-high 18 points following halftime while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Nila Blackford grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds as the Flashes outrebounded their rival 46-28.
Five Golden Flashes are scoring in double-figures for the season. Sophomore Asiah Dingle leads the Flashes in scoring (13.5 ppg), assists (3.3 apg) and steals (1.9 spg). Dingle is averaging 15.6 points on 58.1-percent shooting in seven games during February. Freshman Nila Blackford is the conference's top freshman rebounders at 7.9 per game and adds 13.1 points per game. Freshman Katie Shumate (11.9 ppg) has displayed a versatile skill set and ranks in the top-two on the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg), steals (31) and blocked shots (23). Redshirt senior Megan Carter (11.9 ppg) has scored in double-digits in 13 of her past 18 contests against Division I opponents. Sophomore Lindsey Thall (11.2 ppg) is the MAC's top shot blocker (2.1 bpg) and only NCAA Division I player with 50 three-pointers and 50 blocks this season.
Scouting Bowling Green
Bowling Green (9-18, 2-13 MAC) snapped an eight-game skid on Wednesday by beating MAC East leader Ohio, 82-68. The Falcons are 6-6 when playing at the Stroh Center this season.
The fourth-highest scoring team in the Mid-American Conference, BG averages 72.0 points per game and is 7-3 when putting at least 79 on the scoreboard. The Falcons rank in the top-30 nationally in field goal percentage (.450), three-point field goal percentage (.377), three-point field goals per game (8.4) and assists per game (16.4).
The trio of center Angela Perry (13.4 ppg), guard Caterrion Thompson (13.3 ppg) and guard Madisen Parker (12.5 ppg) has accounted for 55-percent of BG's points this season. Perry owns a conference-best .569 field goal percentage and has eight 20-point outings. Parker has been one of the top shooters in the country, ranking second in three-point field goal percentage (.481) and sixth in three-point field goals made (90). Thompson has averaged 15.4 points in the Falcon's nine victories.
