About Youngstown State
Youngstown State is just three games into their program's first season, a place Kent State was just over two years ago. The Penguins got their first win in program history over Detroit Mercy, 12-7, behind Lauren Ottensmeyer's five-goal performance which earned her MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Ottensmeyer leads YSU with eight goals on the season. Callie Vaudry has seven goals and one assist, tying for the team lead in points.
In goal for the Penguins is Elicia Wells – one of the top goalies in the country in her three starts. She ranks third in the NCAA in saves per game (13.00) and 12th in the nation in save percentage (.520). The lone senior on YSU's roster is the driving force behind the team's solid start.
