KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (10-3, 8-3 MAC) dominated Central Michigan on Senior Day defeating the Chippewas 8-2 Friday evening at Murphy-Mellis Field.

The Flashes finished the game with a huge advantage in shots (32-5), shots on goal (22-3), and penalty corners (15-3). Freshman Katie Wuerstle led the attack registering four shots, all of which were on goal. Seven different Flashes scored in today's contest including Sydney Washburn (2), Ashley Bonetz (1), Luisa Knapp (1), Emma Bressler (1), Larissa Balachick (1), Clara Rodriguez Seto (1), and Caitlin Holland (1).

Kent State was in control for all 60 minutes and got off to a hot start scoring three goals in the first quarter all within a four-minute span. Central Michigan's Alice O'Hagan would score late in the first to make it 3-1.

The Flashes would then score the next four goals of the game, one in the second quarter and three more in the third quarter, to take a 7-1 lead. O'Hagan would score again for the Chippewas right before the end of the period to make it 7-2.

Bressler would score the final goal of the game just 1 minute 29 seconds into the fourth quarter to solidify the Flashes 8-2 victory.

Kent State will be back in action tomorrow when they face off against Central Michigan again at Murphy-Mellis Field in the last game of the 2021 Spring season. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
