Flashes Field Hockey Travel to #14 Syracuse this Weekend

The Kent State field hockey team (2-1, 0-0 MAC) will make their way to New York to battle against the 14th ranked Syracuse Orange on Saturday, Sept. 4 at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
The Flashes opened the 2021 Fall season with three games in five days facing off against Michigan State, Saint Louis, and #22 Ohio State. Kent State fell to the Spartans 3-1 before beating the Billikens and upsetting the Buckeyes 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
SCOUTING SYRACUSE
The Orange finished 2020 with an 8-8 overall record and are 2-0 this Fall. They return their top five points scorers in Charlotte de Vries (13), Pleun Lammers (12), SJ Quigley (12), Laura Graziosi (8), and Eefke van den Nieuwenhof (8). de Vries and Lammers were also the Orange's top goal scorers with five a piece. de Vries, Quigley, and Graziosi all started 15 of the 16 games for Syracuse in 2020.
THE SERIES
In 2014, the Golden Flashes lost to #5 ranked Syracuse 6-1 at Murphy-Mellis Field. Kent State is now 2-6 all-time against the Orange.
