Kent State takes on Miami and Penn State

The Kent State field hockey team (6-5, 4-0 MAC) travels to Miami University for a Mid-American Conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. The Flashes return home on Sunday, Oct. 16 to face off against No. 4 Penn State at 12 p.m.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes come off a shutout win over Central Michigan last weekend. With goals by Sydney Washburn, Danielle Hamm, Augustina Florio, Maria Cambra Soler, and Patricia Strunk, the Flashes won 5-0.
Kent State is the only undefeated team in the MAC with a 4-0 record. The Golden Flashes lead the MAC in shots on goal, assists, and shutouts. Senior Larissa Balachick is ranked second in the MAC for assists and Kent State is ninth in the country for assists per game (2.82).
Scouting Miami
Miami (7-5, 3-1 MAC) traveled to Virginia and lost both games against Longwood and No. 6 Virginia. The RedHawks and Lancers moved to a shootout after scoreless double overtimes. Miami is ranked No. 4 in the NCAA for defensive saves. Junior Macy McHale leads the team in assists, is nationally ranked No. 3, and No. 1 in the MAC for most defensive saves.
Scouting No. 4 Penn State
Penn State (11-2) is ranked No. 4 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll. The Nittany Lions won the last three games and had back-to-back overtime games with a double overtime win against No. 4 Iowa. Junior Sophia Gladieux recorded three goals against the Indiana and scored both game-winning goals in the overtime. She is nationally ranked No. 3 in goals and points per game.
The Series
The Golden Flashes hold a 50-39-2 record over the RedHawks. Last season the Flashes won 1-0 with the goal scored off a penalty corner by Maria Cambra Soler.
The Nittany Lions leads the all-time series against the Flashes 5-0. In the last match up, Kent State fell 8-0 to Penn State and have a home record of 0-1.
