KENT, Ohio — An aggressive attack of the basket resulted in frequent trips to the free throw line and a decisive advantage in paint scoring as Kent State defeated Miami, 83-61, Monday night at the M.A.C. Center to extend the winning streak to three games.
The Golden Flashes (13-7, 5-6 MAC) scored at least 20 points in each quarter and shot 26-of-54 from floor for 48.1% while connecting on 25 of 28 attempts at the free throw line. In addition to making 20 more free throws than its opposition, Kent State outscored the RedHawks in the paint, 38-22.

Thall's three-point field goal at the 4:03 mark in the first period was the 200th of her career, as the Strongsville native became just the second player in program history to reach the milestone.
Kent State held a 39-32 rebounding advantage, returning to the stellar performance on the glass that was present during the first 17 games of the season. Blacked received help from Thall and senior Hannah Young, who grabbed seven boards apiece.
The Flashes will have just one day of rest before playing their third game in five days Wednesday night at Central Michigan.
