
Flashes Fall to No. 6 Liberty

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Kent State field hockey team fell to No. 6 Liberty, 9-0, in its second weekend game at the Hoosier Invitational.
Liberty came out strong, scoring three goals in each of the first two periods to lead 6-0 at the half. The Golden Flashes limited the Flames to a single goal on 11 shots in the third quarter but allowed two more scores over the final 15 minutes.
Sophomore Cecile van Eijck made nine saves during the first half. Freshman Hayley Gable started strong in her college debut, stopping the first four shots on goal faced and holding Liberty scoreless during her first 24 minutes in the cage. Gable finished with five saves overall.
Junior Jenna McCrudden and freshman Patricia Strunk recorded shots on goal for Kent State.
The Flashes (1-1) will return to Murphy-Mellis Field next weekend for the home opener when they face off against No. 10 Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 2 at 12 p.m.
