
Kent State Falls to No. 10 Syracuse

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team fell to No. 10 Syracuse Friday afternoon at Murphy-Mellis Field by a score of 5-0.
The Golden Flashes (1-2) came out strong with a penalty corner in the first 30 seconds of the game and led overall in corners (7-5).
After allowing a pair of goals in the opening four minutes, Kent State's defense held the Orange scoreless until late in the third period. Syracuse took a 4-0 lead into the final quarter and struck for a final goal in the period's first minute.
The Flashes fired a season-high 12 shots. Junior Jenna McCrudden led the way with three shots.
Sophomore Cecile van Eijck recorded seven saves and junior Alex Sacker made a defensive save.
Kent State will be back in action at home on Sunday, Sept. 4 as they face off against Bucknell at 12 p.m.
