Kent State travels to take on the Bobcats and Buckeyes

The Kent State field hockey team (4-4, MAC 2-0) faces off against Ohio University on Friday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. and then travels to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes prepare for this weekends' games following a 7-0 victory against Ball State last Friday. Maria Cambra Soler, Patricia Strunk, and Maia Sarrabayrouse led the team with season high records. Patricia Strunk scored her first goal of the season, had five shots, five shots on goal, and one assist.
Cecile Van Eijck records the ninth most saves per game in the country (6.63) and shares the MAC led for most shutouts (2). The Flashes are ranked fourth in the NCAA with defense saves.
Scouting Ohio University
Ohio (5-3, MAC 1-1) went 1-1 last weekend and won their first conference game.
The Bobcats are led by players, Mijntje Ligtenberg and Katelyn Whittle. Ligtenberg has 15 points on six goals and three assists. She also recorded the most game-winning goals with three. Whittle holds 10 points on four goals and two assists. The Bobcats are ranked second in the MAC with the most shots (107).
Scouting Ohio State
Ohio State (3-5) started the season strong with three straight wins but has fallen in the last five games. Hallie Brost leads with three goals. Junior Abby Danson is ranked fourth in the nation with a 0.843 save percentage and ninth with 1.05 goals against average.
Series
Last season, the Flashes won against the Bobcats 3-2 in Athens after double overtime. Flashes hold a 13-5 record over the Bobcats from the past 12 years and have a nine-game win streak.
The Flashes are 9-25 up against the Buckeyes. At the last matchup, Kent State won 3-1 and Jenna McCrudden scored to help the Flashes take the lead in the third quarter.
