
Kent State Back on Road Wednesday at Miami

The Kent State women's basketball team is scheduled to return to the hardwood on Wednesday, Jan. 11 as it visits Miami for a Mid-American Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
No. 13 in the Mid-Major Top 25, the Golden Flashes (10-3, 2-0 MAC) extended their winning streak to five with a wire-to-wire 60-44 victory at Ohio on Saturday to finish as one of only three unbeatens during the opening week of conference action. Kent State held the Bobcats to a 1-of-21 shooting performance from three-point range and just 29.1% overall from the floor. Sophomore Bridget Dunn had a game-high 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to match her career-high. Seniors Clare Kelly and Katie Shumate added nine points each. Shumate hauled in a season-best 11 rebounds. Graduate student Hannah Young played her 124th game in a Flashes uniform, tying assistant coach Alexa Golden for the program record.
Kent State allows the fewest points (58.3 ppg) in the MAC and also leads the conference with a 36.2% field goal percentage defense. The Flashes are 10-0 when holding opponents to fewer than 70 points.
Forward Lindsey Thall is the top scorer at 11.7 points per game and has also totaled team-best marks of 24 three-pointers and 12 blocked shots. Thall is Kent State's all-time leader with 242 triples, which ranks 20th among active NCAA Division I players, and ranks 10th among active players in career blocks (184). Guard Katie Shumate is close behind at 11.5 points per game and pulls down a team-high 6.2 rebounds per contest.
Guards Clare Kelly (6.4 ppg), Dionna Gray (4.8 ppg) and Abby Ogle (4.5 ppg) and forward Bridget Dunn (4.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg) lead a strong bench unit that is scoring 26.5 points per contest. Dunn is averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game so far in conference play.
Scouting Miami
The RedHawks (5-10, 0-2 MAC) have lost five of the past six games but own a 5-3 record inside of Millett Hall. Miami averages 75.1 points per contest on 46.5% shooting at home compared to 59.9 points per game and 39.0% from the floor in road and neutral site settings.
The backcourt of Ivy Wolf (17.5 ppg), Maddi Cluse (15.5 ppg) and Payton Scott (12.7 ppg) provides the RedHawks with the top scoring trio in the MAC. Wolf ranks fourth in the conference with 36 three-point field goals and averages a team-best 3.5 assists per game. Cluse is fourth in the MAC in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and recorded the second triple-double in program history against Bradley on Dec. 16. Forward/center Sierra Morrow (8.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg) posted her first career double-double against Akron on Saturday.
