Seven Event Victories Highlight Indoor Track and Field Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kent State captured seven event wins on Saturday as the indoor track and field season opened at the Falcon Early Bird Open.
Four Golden Flashes recorded personal-best marks that rank in the top 10 on the program's all-time performance list. Grace Luther posted the first top-10 mark of the day with a toss of 60'-3.25" to win the weight throw, which puts her at No. 9 in Kent State history.
The remaining three top-10 performances came on the track, beginning with Alexander Shields' time of 7.91 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims to remain at No. 4 all-time.
Asa Hodrick ran a personal-best 60-meter dash time in both prelims and finals, and his winning time of 6.74 seconds moves him into the No. 9 spot. Three additional Flashes recorded personal-best times to claim the top four spots. Jaheim Jones (6.79) finished second, Dejon Manning (6.9 4) finished third and Kyle Sommer (7.10) finished fourth.
Baidy Ba's winning time of 1:52.35 in the 800-meter run on the 200-meter track converts to 1:50.77, which puts him at No. 6 in Kent State history. Ethan Yost was right behind with a converted time of 1:51.41 to finish second.
Quintin Cooks rounded out the winners on the track, placing first in the 400-meter dash in 50.35 seconds.
Leah Pasqualetti cleared 13'-0.25" to win the pole vault, while Nolan Landis and Aliesha Shaw recorded PRs to sweep the shot put. Landis had a best toss of 56'-2.5" and Shaw posted a heave of 50'-6.25" on her final attempt.
Trey Double recorded a converted mile time of 4:09.60 to place second in the event.
The Flashes will return to action next on Friday, Jan. 20 for the annual Akron Dual.
