
Women’s Basketball to Host La Roche on Saturday

Kent State will host La Roche on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. for a final tune-up prior to the start of Mid-American Conference play. As part of Kids Day – presented by the Future Flashes Kids Club – all children in attendance will receive a free Kent State-branded mini hoop.
The Golden Flashes (5-4) were dominant in their last game and set a new program record for fewest points allowed in a game with a 84-20 victory over Lake Erie on Dec. 19. Freshman Janae Tyler outscored the Storm on her own and posted career-high marks with 22 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Corynne Hauser made three three-point shots to match her career-high and finished with 17 points and game-high five assists.
Forward Jenna Batsch has been among the most improved players in the MAC this season and is the leading scorer at 11.1 points per game. Guard Corynne Hauser averages 4.1 assists per game, which ranks fifth in the conference, in addition to scoring 11.0 points per game. Preseason All-MAC First Team guard Katie Shumate adds 10.7 points per game and team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Forward Janae Tyler (9.4 ppg), center Mikala Morris (8.7 ppg), and forward Bridget Dunn (6.6 ppg) have also posted double-digit scoring performances. Dunn averages a career-high 6.4 rebounds per game and leads the Flashes with 16 three-point field goals.
Scouting La Roche
Despite only having eight players see action this season, the Redhawks (7-3) have won five straight and started Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play 4-0. Guard/forward Makayla Abram is the top scorer at 16.4 points per game and adds 8.6 rebounds per game. Guard Machia Hairston leads the AMCC with 12.8 rebounds per game and scores 15.7 per game. Guard Jazmine Dunn (14.3 ppg) ranks sixth in NCAA Division III with 6.0 assists per game. Guard Alexis Robison (13.4 ppg) rounds out La Roche's quarter of double-digit scorers.
