Breitenstine, Flashes Notch Top Ten Finishes at Hal Williams Collegiate

Mobile, AL... On Tuesday, the Kent State men's golf team closed out the inaugural event of their spring season with a seventh-place finish at this year's Hal Williams Collegiate.
The Flashes gained a spot in the final round to pass Davidson and Texas State, thanks in part to the stellar play of Cade Breitenstine, who finished individually in a tie for ninth.
"We got off to a slow start on day one," KSU head coach Jon Mills said. "The conditions were very tough and we started Tuesday strong but weren't able to keep it going."
Breitenstine was joined in the top 15 by reigning MAC Freshman of the Year Jordan Gilkison, who carded a team-best 67 in the middle round to help propel the Flashes ahead.
"I was very happy with how Cade and Jordan played," Mills said. "Overall, we need to do some work in preparation for the General Hackler."
Beyond that pairing, Freshman Ben MacLean ensured that a third Golden Flash would finish in the top 50, posting a personal best score of 70 in round three to pass a pair of rival Rockets.
Kent State will be back in action on March 13th when the team travels to Myrtle Beach for this year's General Hackler.
