
Flashes take victory over the School Down the Road

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team won 6-5 against Akron this afternoon.
In the first quarter, both teams went scoreless until the Zips secured two goals with four minutes remaining. Kenzie Sklar responded quickly after, bringing the score 2-1 at the end of the first.
With three minutes left in the second quarter, the Zips were able to score another goal, 3-1. The Golden Flashes led in draw controls 5-1, while both teams tied in ground balls 12-12 at halftime.
Akron increased their lead 4-1 with a shot from the top of the circle five minutes into the third quarter. Sklar scored her second goal of the game and now leads the team in goals (32).
In the final quarter, Morgan Kubicki picked up the team's intensity and scored for the Flashes, 4-3. Akron fought back and scored their fifth goal of the game with eight minutes remaining. Jackie Wolford responded with a goal and brought the game to a one goal difference again, 5-4. Sklar then scored her third goal of the game and tied the score 5-5. To take the lead, Emily Bond passed to Wolford for a goal with four minutes remaining.
Up next, the Golden Flashes travel to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris on Wednesday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
