
Lacrosse Defeats Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Kent State lacrosse team won 13-10 against Robert Morris this afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (5-6, 2-0 MAC) recorded their first program victory over the preseason Mid-American Conference favorite Colonials and remain undefeated in league play.
Both teams scored in the opening minute of the game, and a goal by Emily Bond with 53 seconds remaining gave Kent State a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Jackie Wolford's 100th career goal with 12:19 remaining in the second quarter put the Flashes ahead for good. Wolford is the second player in program history to reach 100 career goals.
Kenzie Sklar added her second goal of the contest and Madison Flannigan made five saves in the period as Kent State led 6-4 at halftime.
The Flashes outscored their host 4-2 during the third period to extend the lead to four entering the final 15 minutes.
Robert Morris cut its deficit to two with 11:18 remaining, but Wolford provided an answer with her third goal of the day at the 8:09 mark. Zayda Crumpton secured her first career hat trick just one minute later to make it 12-8. The Colonials scored the next two goals before Bond found the back of the net for the second time in the final minute.
Kent State had a dominant 19-8 lead in draw controls. Crumpton led the way with a career-high eight.
Flannigan totaled 11 saves and stopped more than half of the opponent's shots on goal for the second game in a row.
Up next, the Golden Flashes travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan to take on Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m.
