Flashes Come Back to Draw with Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – Alanna Raimondo scored the second goal of her collegiate career on Sunday as the Kent State women's soccer team forced a 1-1 draw with Arizona State in Tempe on Sunday.
The Sun Devils were able to break the scoreless draw after both sides traded shots early on, finding the first goal in 15th minute. The Golden Flashes turned up the defensive intensity when they found themselves down a goal and held Arizona State to just one other shot on goal for the rest of the match.
The Flashes trailed heading into the halftime break, but the short reprieve from the desert sun put new life into the squad, who started the second half off with sweltering pace. In the 52nd minute, Alisa Arthur dribbled into the box and drew in both center backs, slipping a pass to the wide-open Raimondo, who fired a right-footer into the left half of the net for the equalizer.
Raimondo is now tied for the team lead in goals while Arthur boasts a team-best two assists.
Kent State was able to generate scoring chances as the clock wore down through set pieces and well-timed runs but could not find the go-ahead goal. On their own end of the field, the Flashes' defensive unit cut out chances from the fiery Sun Devil attack.
Kent State now sits at 2-2-2 on the season with only one game remaining before Mid-American Conference play gets underway later on this month.
