Kent State women's basketball begins its first road trip of the season against 13th-ranked NC State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (1-1) held on to the No. 16 spot in the Mid-Major Top 25 after falling to James Madison, 67-56, and then beating Walsh, 113-54, during the first week of the season. Six different players scored in double-figures against the Cavaliers as part of the highest scoring performance since Dec. 29, 1993, and third most points in a game in program history. Sophomore Mya Babbitt shot 5-of-6 from behind the three-point line and recorded career-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds.
Kent State held a dominant 61-21 advantage on the glass for the most single-game rebounds in more than 15 years. Senior Bridget Dunn was in double-figures for the second game in a row with 12 boards, while sophomore Riley Rismiller totaled 14 points and career-high 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double.
Scouting #13 NC State
The Wolfpack (1-1) return home after falling to top-ranked South Carolina on Sunday. NC State has been tough to beat inside of Reynolds Coliseum recently, posting a 17-1 record last season with a 61-game winning streak against unranked non-conference opponents.
The talented roster is led by guards Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers, who both were named to the preseason watch lists for the Naismith Women's Player of the Year and Wooden Award. James is second on the team at 15.0 points per game and Rivers adds 7.5 points and team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Guard Zoe Brooks is the top scorer at 16.0 points per game while shooting just under 60% from the floor.
