
Women’s Hoops Back in Action Thursday Against Walsh

The Kent State women's basketball team will take the court at the M.A.C. Center for the second time in four days on Thursday with tip against Walsh scheduled for 7 p.m.
Ranked No. 16 in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll entering the season, the Golden Flashes (0-1) lost to James Madison, 67-56, in a MAC-Sun Belt Challenge matchup on Monday. Sophomore Riley Rismiller was among the bright spots on a night in which Kent State used some non-traditional lineups. The Dayton transfer scored a game-high 20 points and showed good shooting touch with a 14-of-15 performance at the free throw line. Freshman Journey Hildebrand also played well in her debut with nine points in 11 minutes off the bench. Senior Bridget Dunn recorded a career-high five blocks and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Scouting Walsh
The Cavaliers will count Thursday's contest as an exhibition before officially opening the season on Saturday against Davenport. The top 10 scorers from last season's team that went 8-18 return. Forward Kiley Dyrlund was an All-G-MAC Second Team selection with averages of 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while also leading the team with 55 steals and 21 blocks. Guard Peyton Alazaus bolsters the roster after scoring more than 1,000 points and earning All-SAC West Second Team honors at Pitt-Johnstown.
