
Golden Flashes Back on the Road at Coppin State on Thursday

Kent State seeks its second straight true road victory on Thursday with tip against Coppin State scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (6-4) put on a show for local elementary school students during Monday morning's 103-41 victory over Virginia University of Lynchburg. Excellent ball movement resulted in 34 assists on 39 made baskets. Senior Jenna Batsch (17 points, 11 assists) and freshman Meghan Murray (11 points, 13 assists) posted their first career double-doubles in the victory. Kent State matched its season-high with 13 three-pointers, as freshman Journey Hildebrand led the way with five makes.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch is the top scorer at 14.2 points per game and has reached double-figures in nine straight contests. Mya Babbitt (12.9 ppg) has scored 20 or more points in three games and ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in three-pointers (25). Dionna Gray has led Kent State to a 4-1 record after missing the first four games of the season and averages 11.4 points and 5.4 assists per game. Bridget Dunn (7.7 ppg) is second in the MAC in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and blocked shots (10). Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impact with averages of 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Scouting Coppin State
The Eagles (7-5) are 3-0 at home this season, including an overtime victory over Arizona State on Dec. 5 for the school's first home win against power conference opponent in any sport. All five losses have been against teams in the top-70 of the NET.
Forward Laila Lawrence leads the way with averages of 17.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. The 2024 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year ranks second nationally with eight double-doubles. Guard Angel Jones adds 15.6 points per game. Sharpshooter Tiffany Hammond (8.6 ppg) has made 30 three-point shots, which puts her in the top-25 in the country.
