
Golden Flashes fall to the Colonials in double overtime

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State lacrosse team (4-8, 1-1 MAC) fell 11-10 in double overtime against Robert Morris (3-8, 2-0 MAC) this afternoon.
In the first quarter, the Flashes went on a three goal lead with goals by Haleigh Greenberg, Morgan Halli, and Jackie Wolford. With three minutes remaining, the Colonials scored to bring the game 3-1.
Wolford and Crumpton added on goals for Kent State in the second quarter to bring the score 5-3 with six minutes left. Robert Morris secured a goal with only seconds remaining in the quarter.
In the third quarter, the Colonials tied the score 5-5 and took the lead 6-5 within 11 minutes of play. Peyton Gellin scored for the Flashes and tied the score again 6-6.
Riley Floyd scored in the fourth quarter to tie the game 7-7. Gellin secured a hat trick after tying the score 8-8 and 9-9. Robert Morris took the lead 10-9 and, before the end of regulation, Halli scored her second goal of the game off a free position shot to tie the game.
In the first half of overtime, the Colonials and Gellin each recorded a shot on goal. In the second half, Meghan Haddow added another shot on goal for Kent State.
Two minutes into the final overtime, Robert Morris scored to win the game 11-10. The Flashes led in shots 38-30. The Colonials led on ground balls (21-19) and draw controls (14-12).
