Flashes fall to the Titans

DETROIT, Mich. - The Kent State lacrosse team (5-11, 2-3 MAC) fell, 11-15, to Detroit Mercy (4-11, 3-3 MAC) this afternoon.
In the first two minutes of play, Jackie Wolford scored to put the Flashes on the board 1-0. The Titans tied the score and took the lead 4-1 with four minutes remaining in quarter one. Peyton Gellin secured a goal to bring the score 4-2 before the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, Peyton Gellin scored her second goal of the game, bringing the score 4-3. Responding to a Detroit Mercy goal, Emily Bond secured a goal for Kent State. Keeping the score close at 6-5, Wolford scored for the Flashes with six minutes remaining until the half. Morgan Halli scored to bring the score 6-7 and Emily Bond tied the score 7-7 before halftime. The Flashes led in draw controls 8-7.
In the third quarter, the Titans took the lead 12-7.
Zayda Crumpton scored with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, bringing the score 13-8. Wolford secured back-to-back goals with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. Emily Bond scored a man-up at 58 seconds to close the game 15-11.
Crumpton matched her season high of nine draw controls, including two caused turnovers.
Up next, the Flashes close the regular season against Central Michigan on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
