KENT, Ohio – After a strong 2024 campaign, the Kent State men's golf program will look to capture its 29th Mid-American Conference Championship at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana.
The Golden Flashes have won 12 of the last 14 MAC titles, including a streak of six in a row that was snapped last season with a fourth-place finish. Kent State has claimed 17 of the 23 championships since the turn of the century.
The Flashes are coming off of a fourth-place finish last weekend at the Robert Kepler Individual, finishing nine strokes ahead of the next-lowest MAC school in the field. Jordan Gilkison (t-12, +3), Chris Vandette (t-21, +5), and Bryce Reed (t-21, +5) all claimed a spot in the top 25.
As a squad, Kent State has claimed three top-five finishes this season, including a second-place finish at the Gopher Invitational to open the year. The team placed third at the Dorado Beach Classic, finishing with the most birdies of any team in the field, while Vandette claimed the individual title at 14-under par in 36 holes, the second-lowest two-round score in program history.
The Flashes enter the weekend as the highest-ranked team in the MAC, narrowly edging out Toledo.
First round tee times will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Eastern. The Flashes will be paired with Ball State and Toledo and are slated to tee off at 9:50 a.m. on Hole 1, a 405-yard par 4. Live scoring updates can be found here.
