
Women’s Hoops to Host Eastern Michigan on Wednesday for January Finale

The Kent State women's basketball team returns to action at the M.A.C. Center on Wednesday against Eastern Michigan. Tip of the Mid-American Conference contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (13-7, 6-2 MAC) used a record-tying fourth quarter to close out a 77-63 victory at Miami on Saturday afternoon. Kent State shot 13-of-17 from the field and5-of-7 at the free throw line to outscore its host 33-26 over the final 10 minutes of action. Senior Jenna Batsch led all scorers with 19 points and senior Bridget Dunn recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch (15.3 ppg, 4.3 apg) is the only player in the conference averaging at least 15 points and four assists per game. Bridget Dunn (8.8 ppg) ranks second in the nation in defensive rebounding (9.0 drpg) and 17th overall in rebounds per game (10.4). Mya Babbitt (12.5 ppg) leads the MAC with 49 three-pointers and has made 38.3% of attempts from beyond the arc. Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impact with averages of 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Dionna Gray averages 8.7 points and 4.7 assists per game while leading Kent State to an 11-4 record in games played this season.
Scouting Eastern Michigan
The Eagles (1-17, 0-8 MAC) have lost 12 straight and still seek their first road victory of the season. A pair of transfers who followed first-year head coach Sahar Nusseibeh from Canisius lead the way. Forward Sisi Eleko is the second-leading scorer (19.0 ppg) and rebounder (10.2 rpg) in the conference. Guard Mackenzie Amalia (10.3 ppg) leads the country in minutes played per game (38.4) and played every minute during the first seven contests of MAC play.
