
Flashes Travel to Toledo for First MAC Road Contest

The Kent State women's basketball team will play its first road contest during Mid-American Conference play at Toledo on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (9-5, 2-0 MAC) are one of only two teams who went 2-0 during the opening week of conference action and have won three in a row overall. Kent State led 10-0 and never trailed in an 82-73 victory on Sunday against previously unbeaten Buffalo. The nation's best free throw shooting team shot 24-of-26 over the final 7:30 to prevent a late comeback. Senior Jenna Batsch led the way with a season-high 23 points and sophomore Mya Babbitt drained five triples as part of a 19-point performance. Bridget Dunn posted her second double-double of her senior campaign with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch (14.9ย ppg, 4.1 apg) is one of only two players in the conference averaging at least 14 points, four assists and one steal per game. Bridget Dunn (7.9 ppg) ranks second in the nation in defensive rebounding (9.1 drpg) and 11th overall in rebounds per game (10.7). Mya Babbitt (12.9 ppg) leads the MAC with 37 three-pointers and has made 42.5% of attempts from beyond the arc. Dionna Gray averages 11.3 points and 4.9 assists per game while leading Kent State to a 7-2 record in games played this season. Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impactย with averages of 10.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Scouting Toledo
The Rockets (9-3, 1-1 MAC) led by as many as 27 points in a road victory at Akron on Saturday to bounce back from a one-point loss to Northern Illinois on New Year's Day that snapped a 23-game home conference winning streak.
Guard/forward Sammi Mikonowicz leads the way with averages of 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and is joined in double-digits by guards Khera Goss (11.2 ppg) and Kendall Caruthers (10.5 ppg). Led by center Hannah Noveroske (7.4 ppg), guard/forward Nan Garcia (6.1 ppg) and guard Faith Fedd-Robinson (5.9 ppg), Toledo ranks 26th in the country in bench scoring (28.3 ppg).
